This Sunday, we’re in John 16. The reality of separation from Jesus is hitting the disciples, and it fills them with sorrow.

Sorrow… A common experience to every human, and Jesus is very honest about that reality. How do we deal with that reality? And where do we look for hope in sorrow?

No surprise, but Jesus says he’s the answer. He is God’s ultimate response to sorrow. Jesus doesn’t minimize our sorrow and pain, but he confronts the root cause head-on. He takes the weight of it all on his shoulders. And his words to everyone who puts their faith in him? “Your sorrow will turn to joy.”
