What do we believe about…
Humanity
We believe that humans are made in the image of God with the purpose of knowing and enjoying God, and participating in his rule on the earth. However, humans made a choice to rebel against God’s loving rule and because of this, they live broken lives that lead to death.
Salvation
We believe that salvation is a free gift of God, and is, by the grace of God, offered to all through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Anyone can be restored to relationship with God through repentance, belief and receiving of Jesus as Saviour and Lord. The Holy Spirit convicts, regenerates, justifies, and adopts us as we enter the kingdom of God as sons and daughters.
Church
We believe in the Church as the family of people that are united to the Lord Jesus Christ. It is made up of all who have put their faith in Jesus Christ; we are unified by the Holy Spirit with all those who confess Jesus as Lord. The Church has been given the mandate to carry on the works of Jesus Christ and to advance his Kingdom, living out the good news of God’s love, and making disciples of Jesus in all nations. We believe that Jesus commanded his people to baptise with water and to remember his sacrifice through regularly sharing Communion. We do not believe that people are saved through these practices but that they demonstrate the reality of what he has accomplished for us, and we participate in the life of Jesus through them.
Bible
We believe that the Bible is the story of what God is doing through human history. It is the only inspired word of God that expresses the authority of God and being without error in the truths that it declares about God, humans and God’s world.
World
God created the world as a reflection of his goodness and beauty, and created humans to participate in ruling the world with him. The creation has been corrupted by sin, which leads to brokenness, suffering and death, but will be redeemed and restored when Jesus returns to make all things new. This work has already begun at the resurrection of Jesus, and continues through the church by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Future
Jesus Christ will return, personally and visibly, to fulfil the purposes of God. He will raise all people to judgement, bring eternal life to the redeemed and condemnation to the lost, and will reunite heaven and earth. He will establish a new heaven and new earth, and complete the work of making all things new. He will live with his people, and they will live with him forever.
